Childcare Vouchers - Into the future
The Childcare Voucher Scheme will now remain open to new entrants until April 2018. All those in the scheme at that point will be able to stay in the scheme ongoing, with the ability to vary the value of childcare vouchers whenever they wish.
Those working parents currently not in the scheme can take advantage of this valuable and popular tax break by joining up before the door is closed to them in 2018.
Parents can join from as little as £10 per month and can save up their childcare vouchers in anticipation of future costs.
We will be reminding parents and employers of their options nearer the time, but if you would like us to help you with communicating the changes to your employees directly, please contact the Fair Care team on 0800 652 4745, or email us at email@example.com.
Close to 750,000 employees currently benefit from childcare vouchers, helping parents meet the cost of childcare in a wide range of settings.
The government’s new Tax Free Childcare scheme, which has been substantially delayed, will now be gradually rolled out from early 2017 on an age-based approach (details to be confirmed). It is intended that by the end of 2017, Tax Free Childcare will be open to all eligible parents.
The Tax Free Childcare scheme will be an arrangement directly between the government and working parents, accessed through the government gateway. Employers will have no involvement. A calculator, information centre and website will be made available by government in advance of the launch of Tax Free Childcare, to help parents decide which childcare option is best for them.
